The challenge
Most people meet knife sharpening as either an industrial service or an inconvenient mail-in gamble. Neither makes anyone comfortable handing over a favourite Wüsthof or Shun. Slicey's bench work is patient and water-cooled, but nothing online said so. The site had to earn local trust quickly, settle the nerves around dropping off expensive cutlery, and win high-intent Midtown searches before better-established competitors did.
What we did
- 1
Sell the care, not the errand
Expert handling, zero-heat steel preservation, and flat-rate quotes stated up front. The copy answers the worry before a visitor has to voice it.
- 2
Design it like a food magazine
An editorial layout, moody workshop photography, and a transparent three-step booking path, with neighbourhood reviews sitting right where people decide.
- 3
Win the Midtown search
Local SEO and a technical Journal catch cooks early. No-surprise text quoting clears the last barrier between a search and a booked drop-off.
The outcome
Slicey now holds a premium digital footprint in Midtown Toronto. The brand reads as the neighbourhood specialist for high-end cutlery rather than a commodity grinder, and a growing library of care guides keeps pulling in cooks who didn't know the service existed.
